Braised steak

This is a very inexpensive cut to use and creates a beautiful slow roast dish. It reminds me of being young and my granny would make it as a roast on many a Sunday.

Wot u need
500g braising steak
1 medium onion
3 cloves garlic
1 tbsp tomato puree
300 mls beef stock (I use 4 tsp Bisto in cold water)
1/2 tin sliced mushrooms
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper

Wot u do
Smash the garlic and fry for three minutes in a mix of butter and olive oil. Add the steak and seal. Remove the steak and cook the onion for five mins till translucent. Add the steaks and onion/garlic mix to a slow cooker. Mix in the stock and tomato puree and add. Cook on high for two hours. Add the mushrooms and cook for a further hour.

Serve with mash and greens.

Serves two.
