This hot winter drink just shouts German Christmas markets! It is absolutely delicious and is a more sophisticated version of our own mulled wine and it’s easier to make! Give it a try over the festive period – you won’t be disappointed.
Wot u need
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup cold water
1 large cinnamon stick
1/2 large orange
1 bottle red wine (cheap stuff)
Wot u do
This one’s really easy! Add the sugar, water and cinnamon stick to a pan and bring to the boil. Simmer, squeeze the orange and add the juice. Use a peeler and cut zest from orange. Stud orange with cloves and add. Cover and leave for 30 mins. Add the wine and bring to a scald but don’t boil – I use a thermometer and take the heat to 80 degrees c.
